Job summary

Amazon LEO is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a broad background in the design, analysis, reliability, and lifetime of mechanical systems and avionics for space environments. The role emphasizes design, sizing, and selection of mechanical mechanisms, with CAD assemblies and detailed drawings as deliverables, and close collaboration with multiple teams across hardware, reliability, and firmware.

The candidate should have 5+ years of aerospace hardware experience, GD&T and tolerance analysis,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience with CAD.
  • 5+ years of experience with design and development of hardware at scale (High End Precision Mechanisms desired).
  • 5+ years of experience with development, test, deployment of aerospace systems.
  • Experience with specifying/justifying margins and test sequences, and qualifying space systems.
  • Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience in DFM and manufacturing process development.

Responsibilities

  • Use knowledge and experience in understanding, collaborating and trading complex inputs from multiple other disciplines to guide the team and arrive at a viable technical approach.
  • Generate detailed designs with CAD assemblies/components and drawings as deliverables.
  • Coordinate with other engineers, manufacturing and assembly to ensure design intent and cost effectiveness of production are achieved
  • Documentation and presentation of materials for technical design reviews.
  • Design and support test campaigns, both development and qualification/acceptance, for space hardware
