Job summary

EGS, Inc. in Oak Ridge, TN is hiring a Mechanical Engineer, P.E. to support complex nuclear and industrial projects with piping System design, HVAC, and facility utilities. You will develop piping layouts, engineering deliverables, and design documentation in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years of experience, strong leadership and mentoring skills, plus customer-facing experience; proficiency in 3D CAD tools and engineering analyses is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 12+ years of relevant engineering experience

Responsibilities

• Support system and mechanical engineering design activities for complex industrial and nuclear projects
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables including P&IDs, specifications, calculations (e.g., pipe stress, hydraulic, safety valve sizing, ventilation sizing), and equipment arrangements
• Develop piping and utility system designs supporting facility infrastructure, process support systems, and operations
• Coordinate with process, structural, electrical, and I&C engineering teams
• Perform piping and mechanical system field walkdowns and support design verification activities
• Assist with piping system evaluations, equipment selection, and design modifications
• Support project planning, procurement, construction, startup, testing, and commissioning activities as needed
• Participate in design reviews and resolution of technical issues
• Interface with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and project teams as needed
• Ensure designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, safety requirements, and client specifications
