Job summary

N3B Los Alamos is seeking an advanced Mechanical Engineer to support facility operations, maintenance, and new projects through design, construction and commissioning. The role requires strong knowledge in design, fabrication, inspections, and acceptance testing across multiple disciplines.

Level 3 requires ABET degree with 5 years in charge of mechanical engineering; Level 4 requires 9 years. DOE Order 426.2 compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Level 3: ABET degree and 5 years in responsible charge of mechanical engineering; DOE 426.2 requires 2 years job-related and 1 nuclear.
• Level 4: ABET degree and 9 years in responsible charge; DOE 426.2 requires 2 years job-related and 1 year nuclear experience.
• Ability to communicate with project stakeholders and other customers.
• Broad experience with engineered systems design and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day engineering support to operations, maintenance, and project management.
• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations for design packages.
• Develop maintenance requirements for systems and equipment.
• Assess compliance of existing systems and identify corrective actions.
• Perform field walk downs of facilities and systems to develop accurate as-built documentation.
• Implement the N3B Conduct of Engineering Program.
