Job summary

Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) seeks an Experienced Mechanical Engineer in Schenectady, NY to perform moderately complex technical tasks under limited supervision across mechanical, nuclear, structural, or electrical domains.

Responsibilities include planning, design, modeling, analysis, documentation, testing, and coordinating with stakeholders while supporting field operations and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
• A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
• Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare project plans to accomplish assigned work.
• Establish, track, and influence progress against schedule and performance goals and provide periodic status updates to management and stakeholders.
• Resolve technical, logistical, and funding issues in area of cognizance.
• Prepare specifications for the design, testing, and qualification of new equipment or upgrades of existing equipment.
• Provide technical support and oversight for field operations.
• Mentor and train lower-level employees.
• Perform analytical evaluations including development and application of computer models and resolution of issues.
• Prepare revisions to technical manuals, reports, or procedures per NR Program quality standards.
• Initiate, design, develop, and support engineering research and design projects.
• Conduct technical negotiations with suppliers; review supplier designs and reports; improve supplier performance.
