Job summary

Wolf Creek Generating Station in Burlington, KS, seeks a Mechanical Engineer at Staff, Senior, or Lead level to design and modify capital projects. The role involves serving as Responsible Design Engineer for large-scale modifications and coordinating with vendors and engineering support contractors.

Qualifications include a BS in Engineering with required experience, EIT/PE preferred, ABET accreditation, and U.S. citizenship or residency.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering with four years of relevant experience.
• Eight years of engineering experience plus EIT or PE preferred.
• Fourteen years of engineering experience and Kansas PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight to enforce requirements on engineering support contractors and major equipment suppliers.
• Promote safety and contribute to a positive team culture.
• Support multi-year capital projects with high complexity and value.
• Evaluate mechanical system designs including piping, rotating equipment, heat exchangers, and auxiliary systems.
• Review and develop specifications for major mechanical equipment.
• Advise on equipment layout and reliability improvements.
• Participate in vendor evaluations and ensure technical compliance.
• Witness FATs for critical mechanical components; monitor delivery and inspect installations.
