Job summary

Plan B Climatech is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and project delivery for mission-critical data centers. This role is fully remote (US-based) and you will own projects from concept through construction administration.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with electrical, controls and commissioning teams, and manage scopes, fees, schedules, and client communications. A PE license is preferred for this senior role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in MEP consulting.
• Experience leading data center or mission-critical projects.
• PE license preferred.
• Proficiency with Revit and energy/load software.

Responsibilities

Senior Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager – Mission Critical (100% Remote)

The role

The company is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and project delivery on its mission critical work. You will own projects from concept through construction administration. You will also be a trusted technical point of contact for clients and mentor junior engineers. You will work alongside electrical, controls and commissioning teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of data centers and mission critical facilities, including cooling plant, CRAH/CRAC, chilled water, airside and liquid cooling systems
• Manage projects end to end: scope, fee, schedule, deliverables and client communication
• Carry out and review load calculations, equipment selections, redundancy (N+1, 2N) and energy analysis
• Produce and QA/QC drawings, specifications and calculations
• Coordinate with the electrical, plumbing, fire protection and commissioning teams
• Support construction administration, including submittals, RFIs and site visits as needed
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design at an MEP consulting firm
• Proven, hands-on experience on data centers or mission critical projects
• Experience running projects and leading client relationships
• Professional Engineer (PE) license [required / preferred]
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA)
• Proficient in Revit and industry-standard load and energy software
