Job description

Senior Mechanical Engineer — Data Centers & Mission-Critical Facilities (Remote)

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at Critical Facility Group, you'll lead mechanical design for data centers and other mission-critical facilities — from engineering calculations and studies through construction documents and construction administration.

You'll be someone who can run design work independently, coordinate across disciplines, and take real responsibility for what gets designed and built.

The Opportunity

This role fits an experienced mechanical engineer who's ready to lead design work on data center and mission-critical projects — CRAC systems, telecom cooling, chilled water, and the reliability standards these facilities demand — not execute someone else's drawings.

What You'll Do
  • Lead engineering design in Revit and AutoCAD, including floor plans, riser diagrams, P&IDs, schedules, and mechanical details
  • Lead development of reusable design tools and templates for the mechanical team
  • Perform studies and calculations, including pipe stress, make-up water, water storage, system capacity sizing, and energy use
  • Handle technical writing for specifications and basis-of-design documents
  • Take accountability for schedule and technical quality on assigned engineering tasks
  • Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly to project teams
  • Coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead
  • Apply hands-on experience to construction administration of CFG's projects
What You'll Bring
  • 10+ years of mechanical design experience on commercial projects
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; familiarity with Navisworks and Bluebeam
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ICC, ASHRAE, or equivalent)
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license, ideally with reciprocity in multiple states
  • Data center or mission-critical facility experience is a strong plus
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with a broader engineering team
Why Critical Facility Group

We're a remote-first team, and the people on it bring years of experience in data center design, construction, and operations — even though CFG itself is only a few years old. This role is a chance to bring real seniority into a growing technical team, sharing ownership of complex projects rather than shouldering them alone.

Critical Facility Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
