Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a clear track record of mechanism design on hardware that shipped and worked in the field.
• Demonstrated talent for mechanisms; ability to sketch a linkage or a cam profile and explain design outcomes.
• Fluency in kinematics and dynamics: linkage synthesis, cam design, gear train design, and tolerance analysis.
• Deep practical knowledge of how mechanisms fail: friction, wear, contamination, and thermal effects.
• Hands-on prototyping and troubleshooting skills across mills, lathes, and bench work.
• Strong GD&T and drawings that fully constrain moving assemblies for suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Solve hard mechanism problems from sketch to working hardware, owning concept, analysis, design and test.
• Design for motion under load: cams, linkages, gear trains, springs, detents, and interfaces with tolerances for real-world use.
• Prototype with your own hands; machine, print, fit, assemble, and test articles; diagnose by data and hands-on inspection.
• Diagnose root causes of jams, stalls, noises, wear patterns, and intermittent failures with test collaboration.
• Kill bad ideas early by recognizing concepts unlikely to survive tolerances, contamination, or temperature.
• Make designs manufacturable by working with manufacturing engineers and suppliers, producing GD&T-constrained drawings.
• Work across disciplines with electrical, firmware, and controls on actuator selection and sensing.
• Support testing in the field by going to the range and driving field validation.
