Job summary

Apptronik in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering to lead the Locomotion and Manipulation team responsible for Apollo's arms, legs, and mobility chassis. You will drive team execution, allocate resources, mentor engineers, set design standards in Siemens NX, transition R&D prototypes to manufacturable assemblies, and collaborate with Actuation, Controls, and Electrical teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in robotics or related fields.
• 3+ years of direct engineering management experience.
• Experience operating in a matrixed organization.
• Deep background in mechanism design, kinematics, and high-torque actuators.
• Proficiency with Siemens NX and top-down modeling for large assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Hire, mentor, and scale a world-class mechanical engineering team.
• Lead locomotion and manipulation hardware development for Apollo.
• Establish and enforce CAD standards using Siemens NX and manage large assemblies/PLM integration (Teamcenter).
• Coach SWaP-C optimization and mass packaging of actuation systems.
• Bridge prototype development to mass production with DFM considerations.
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with Actuation, Controls, and Electrical teams.
