Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Senior Professional Mechanical Engineer for the LSSMU team in Grand Rapids, MI. You will own and execute mechanical engineering scopes for Amazon modernization projects, ensuring quality, on-time delivery, and cost targets.

You will lead design activities, coordinate with customers and internal teams, document project logs, forecast monthly workloads, and apply your expertise in material handling and automation to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• 5+ years experience as a Mechanical Engineer (8+ preferred).
• Strong background in material handling/automation industry.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute mechanical engineering scope for assigned Amazon modernization/retrofit projects.
• Ensure project targets are met for quality, on-time delivery, and cost.
• Maintain up-to-date project log through department project tracking tool.
• Regularly report on project portfolio performance including on-time delivery, budget, quality, risks.
• Own short-term monthly forecast across assigned projects regardless of resource reporting.
• Completes the design of complex systems that integrate hardware and software.
• Completes complex material specification, schematic preparation and follow-up.
• Completes recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and customer satisfaction.
