Job summary

Mercury Marine Current Product Engineering is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to improve quality, functionality, and performance of propulsion products in Fond du Lac, WI. You will lead cross-functional design projects, develop test plans, and collaborate with manufacturing to implement process improvements.

You will interact with service, quality, purchasing and product development teams, solving field issues and validating new components and systems for reliable marine propulsion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of engineering experience supporting complex mechanical products or systems.
• 2+ years of direct experience interacting with and supporting service and manufacturing teams
• Experience supporting current production products and working cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, service, supplier quality, and product development teams.
• Experience developing and executing validation plans.
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical assemblies.
• Advanced knowledge of four stroke engines and bolted joint construction

Responsibilities

• Analyze, evaluate, troubleshoot, and resolve product issues escalated via CPRs (Customer Priority Requests)
• Conduct, support, and manage mechanical component design and development projects
• Provide consultation, support, and expertise in collaboration with the manufacturing team to evaluate and resolve quality issues as well as develop process improvements
• Develop component/system test plans, write test requests, and execute, validate, and revalidate product components
• Collaborate with and provide directions to CAD designers and test technicians assigned to your design and test projects
