Johnson Controls in Burlington, MA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer - Machine Design to lead the development of custom manufacturing equipment from concept through production. You will own designs, collaborate with Process, Controls, Software, and Manufacturing teams, and drive reliability, safety, and cost objectives for high-volume stack forging processes at our onsite facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years designing industrial machinery or automation equipment.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and PDM systems.
• Strong GD&T, design for manufacturability, and machine safety knowledge.
• Experience with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, motion control, or thermal systems.

Responsabilités

• Lead design, development, and implementation of custom manufacturing equipment from concept to production.
• Develop machine architectures and systems meeting performance, safety, and cost objectives.
• Collaborate with Process, Controls, Software, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to define requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement of equipment performance, throughput, and maintainability.
• Perform design reviews, testing, root-cause investigations, and document engineering work.
• Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, BOMs, specs, and change records.
• Manage external suppliers and machine builders through fabrication and commissioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards and leadership.
