Job summary

McKinstry in Missoula, MT is seeking a Senior Associate Engineer - Mechanical to lead design for high-performance buildings. The role emphasizes DBOM concepts, energy efficiency, and lifecycle operation from planning through maintenance.

The candidate should have PE licensure, 10+ years’ experience in complex commercial projects, and strong HVAC/system knowledge. Onsite construction experience and sustainability credentials are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the successful delivery of data center projects and clients.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and deliver best-in-class designs.
• Lead engineering teams through projects meeting schedule, scope, budget, and expectations.
• Monthly track project performance.
• Participate in all phases of project planning and execution to ensure seamless delivery.
• Prepare comprehensive proposals that align scopes of work with client needs and budgets.
• Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with customers to support project and business success.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

10+ years of mechanical engineering design experience

Active Professional Engineer (PE) license

Experience leading engineering efforts on complex projects

Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical design

Onsite construction experience

LEED/WELL accreditation preferred
