Actalent is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Melville, NY to lead the design, analysis, and validation of electro‑mechanical products from concept through production. The role emphasizes SolidWorks proficiency, injection molded plastics, sheet metal design, and high‑volume manufacturing, with opportunities for technical leadership, mentoring, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks for design and analysis.
• Experience in injection molded plastic part design and sheet metal design.
• Electro-mechanical packaging and high‑volume manufacturing experience.
• Experience with FEA/DFMEA and design validation testing.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and product lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, analysis, and development of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems from concept through production.
• Create detailed assembly and part drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Develop design concepts and present to teams and stakeholders.
• Design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Conduct FEA/DFMEA activities and validation testing.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to support releases and troubleshooting.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead multiple projects.
