ASRC Federal is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Plum Island Animal Disease Research Center on Plum Island, NY. You will lead diverse projects with engineering and facilities teams, focusing on mechanical, electrical, and utility systems for research facilities and biosafety environments.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering and 5–7 years of related experience, with strong project management, regulatory compliance knowledge, and proficiency in AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 5–7 years of related mechanical utilities experience.
• Knowledgeable in regulatory compliance for OSHA, Local, State & Federal policies and Fire & related codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects independently with engineering and facilities professionals.
• Research, plan, design, verify, validate, and develop mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems for energy use.
• Recommend technology options or approaches for safety, performance, efficiency, or costs.
• Provide engineering input and support to special projects under operations and maintenance contracts.
• Plan work for special projects and ensure projects remain on schedule and budget.
• Typical projects include new construction; renovations; facility modifications; utility systems installations; upgrades and repairs.
• Perform estimates and plan projects from design through completion.
• Develop solutions for facility and equipment problems; prepare cost estimates and planning documents.
• Review standards and drawings; use AutoCAD as applicable to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Monitor staff safety and biosafety compliance; ensure quality in project execution.
