Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to lead designs and testing for ISR payloads in Beavercreek, Ohio. You will review designs, coordinate with USG customers, and oversee assembly and testing activities.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering standards, MIL specs, and multi-disciplinary teamwork with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance. Occasional telework may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field with 12+ years experience or Master’s with 10+ years.
• Secret Clearance currently required with ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience leading engineers on programs or projects.
• In-depth understanding of MIL-HDBK-516, MIL-STD-8591, MIL-HDBK-810 and ASME Y14 standards.
• Ability to communicate requirements with structural analysts and aerodynamicists and review reports.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team to develop solutions.
• Familiar with materials selection and fabrication tech (3+ axis machining, metal bending, 3D printing).
• Familiar with hand tools and ability to lift 40 pounds in testing environments.

Responsibilities

• Review designs and verify adherence to ASME Y14 standards for ME/EE team.
• Support design and integration of ISR sensors and payloads on ground and air applications.
• Lead projects, shaping designs from USG requirements and coordinating with USG customers.
• Brief USG customers at PDR/CDR or informal reviews.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to track progress and maintain timelines for tests.
• Assist portfolio manager in presenting capabilities and labor/cost estimates.
• Oversee design, build, and assembly of components during flight testing with Flight Test Manager.
• Provide CAD management and vendor evaluation support to engineering processes.
• Lead projects by translating USG requirements into feasible engineering solutions.
