Job summary

Salt River Project (SRP) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide design, analysis, and lifecycle support for hydropower assets, including turbines, gates, valves, and pumps. You will lead mechanical projects from scoping through commissioning, coordinate across Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 5+ years in engineering, and a valid Arizona driver’s

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 5 years of professional engineering experience.
• Arizona driver’s license.
• Ability to work with SRP teams and external partners.
• PE registration or eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs mechanical engineering design work, studies, and condition assessments for hydropower equipment and plant systems.
• Leads mechanical equipment replacements, rehabilitation projects, and reliability improvements.
• Develops scopes of work, specifications, drawings, and cost estimates for mechanical projects.
• Reviews submittals for technical accuracy and conformance to SRP standards.
• Provides field engineering support during installation, commissioning, and testing.
• Monitors equipment performance and recommends corrective actions and upgrades.
• Supports inspection, maintenance, and overhaul of turbines, gates, governors, valves, piping, and balance-of-plant equipment.
• Prepares technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
• Coordinates with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and external partners to execute work safely and efficiently.
• Supports regulatory, dam safety, environmental, and workplace safety requirements.
