Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with HVAC and plumbing expertise to advance project leadership and technical oversight. The role supports hybrid work and can be based in multiple US offices, with travel up to 10% as needed.

You will design, review, and optimize mechanical systems, contribute to technical papers, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with sales and multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the FE exam within 18 months of hire or promotion.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and plumbing systems, including master planning, feasibility studies, and mechanical systems.
• Review designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform site reviews to ensure designs align with location specifications.
• Develop white papers and technical documentation for new or special designs.
• Attend industry conferences to promote CDM Smith’s products and services.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and supervise project work.
• Perform other duties as required.
