Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specialized in HVAC and plumbing to advance project leadership and deliver sustainable, resilient environments. The role supports a hybrid work model with offices across multiple U.S. locations, offering growth through mentoring and design leadership.

You will design complex systems, review compliance, and contribute to knowledge through papers and presentations while collaborating with sales and project teams to expand client impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within 18 months of hire.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and plumbing systems, including master planning and feasibility studies.
• Review designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform site reviews to ensure designs meet location specifications.
• Develop technical papers and design documentation for publication.
• Attend conferences to promote the firm’s services and collaborate with sales teams.
• Provide mentorship and supervision to junior staff.
• Perform other duties as required.
