Job summary
Kimmel Associates is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and engineering of complex HVAC systems for commercial and institutional facilities. You will oversee boiler and chiller plant design, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams through the full project lifecycle.
The role focuses on energy-efficient mechanical systems, staying on schedule and within budget while complying with codes and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- 10+ years of HVAC/mechanical design experience.
- Experience designing commercial and institutional HVAC systems.
- Experience with boiler and chiller plant design.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of HVAC, plumbing, boiler, and chiller plant systems for commercial/institutional projects.
- Develop conceptual and detailed engineering solutions that meet performance and cost objectives.
- Prepare and review mechanical calculations, equipment selections, and construction documents.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other design professionals.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Review calculations and drawings for quality and accuracy.
- Conduct field investigations and provide construction support.
- Ensure designs comply with codes and budgets.
