Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep the cloud running.

A Senior Mechanical Engineer will design, test, and lifecycle-manage liquid cooling systems in AWS data centers, collaborating with product development teams and serving as a global engineering resource for liquid cooling AWS infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide recommendations with engineering judgment despite uncertainty
  • Be detail- and data-oriented
  • Have experience with air handling, piping, and/or pumping products
  • Review, update, and approve equipment submittals
  • Collaborate with global liquid-cooled equipment suppliers and manufacturers
  • Build trust and relationships with stakeholders (e.g., reliability, operations, design, compliance)
  • Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographic zones
  • Explain complex systems in clear, concise language
  • Support operations with failure‑mode and root‑cause analysis, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operating procedure review for mechanical and electrical issues
  • Listen to customer feedback to identify improvements that increase reliability or availability
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to design product improvements and oversee root‑cause analysis
  • Contribute to a global body of knowledge and drive continuous improvement at a global scale
