Job summary

SpaceX in Texas is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to own the rotating equipment integration for gas and steam turbines and HRSGs, from specification through commissioning.

You’ll lead interface management, review OEM drawings, and support FAT, startup, and field troubleshooting on major power plant packages. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of experience with utility-scale rotating equipment, plus knowledge of rotor dynamics, vibration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with utility-scale rotating equipment like gas turbines and HRSGs.
• Experience with FAT, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of ASME BPVC, API standards, and rotor dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical specifications for gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, and associated auxiliaries.
• Lead technical evaluation of OEM proposals and drive equipment selection recommendations.
• Own mechanical interface management between major equipment packages.
• Review OEM drawings, GA layouts, and P&IDs for technical compliance and constructibility.
• Support foundation and structural design coordination, including dynamic loading and vibration criteria.
• Work with EPC and OEM to resolve technical interface issues before field use.
• Participate in FAT at OEM facilities.
• Support commissioning and startup activities on-site, including mechanical checkout and vibration testing.
