Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to own rotating equipment integration for gas/steam turbines and HRSGs across a power plant project.

You will coordinate specifications, interface management, FAT, and on-site commissioning while interfacing with OEMs and EPCs. Ideal candidates have a BS in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years in utility-scale rotating equipment, with hands-on experience in turbine/generator packages and familiarity with ASME codes and vibration analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of utility-scale rotating equipment experience.
• Experience with gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical specifications for gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, and associated auxiliaries (lube oil systems, gas fuel skids, SCR/CO catalyst systems).
• Lead technical evaluation of OEM proposals and drive equipment selection recommendations.
• Own mechanical interface management between major equipment packages (turbine, generator, HRSG, steam turbine, condenser, and balance of plant systems).
• Review and approve OEM drawings, GA layouts, and P&IDs for technical compliance and constructibility.
• Support foundation and structural design coordination with civil/structural engineering.
• Resolve technical interface issues with EPC and OEM before field execution.
• Participate in FAT at OEM facilities.
• Support commissioning and startup activities on-site, including mechanical checkout and alignment.
• Develop spare parts strategy for critical rotating equipment.
• Travel to OEM factories, fabrication shops, and construction sites as needed.
