Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Equipment) to own the integration scope from technical specification through equipment selection, interface management, construction and commissioning. You’ll work with gas turbines, steam turbines and HRSGs, and you’ll be in the field during startup and commissioning.

This is hands-on work requiring travel to OEM facilities and construction sites, with a focus on mechanical interfaces, FATs, and performance testing to ensure reliable plant

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience with utility-scale rotating equipment: gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, or large industrial compressors/pumps.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical specifications for gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, and associated auxiliaries.
• Lead technical evaluation of OEM proposals and drive equipment selection recommendations.
• Own mechanical interface management between major equipment packages (turbine, generator, HRSG, steam turbine, condenser, BOP).
• Review and approve OEM drawings, GA layouts, and P&IDs for compliance and constructibility.
• Support foundation and structural design coordination with civil/structural engineering.
• Resolve technical interface issues with EPC and OEM before field impact.
• Participate in FAT at OEM facilities.
• Support commissioning and startup activities on-site, including mechanical checkout and alignment verification.
• Develop technical basis for spare parts strategy and critical rotating equipment spares.
• Travel to OEM factories, fabrication shops, and construction site as needed.
