Job summary

Kodiak Robotics, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on FEA/CAE to advance autonomous hardware. Based in Mountain View, CA, you will perform assembly-level FEA simulations, identify failure modes, and guide robust designs for our autonomous systems.

You will create analysis reports, supervise testing, develop fixtures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Strong CAD and data-acquisition experience are essential for correlating test data with models.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of FEA experience in automotive/aerospace or related fields.
• Proficient FEA with ANSYS and SolidWorks; solid mechanics and structural dynamics knowledge.
• Bonus: thermal and/or CFD simulation skills.
• Strong CAD experience: SolidWorks, NX, Catia, Creo.
• Experience with data acquisition systems (accelerometers, thermocouples, strain gauges).

Responsibilities

• Perform assembly-level mechanical FEA simulations in ANSYS (non-linear static and dynamic analyses: modal, shock, random vibration).
• Identify failure modes and provide design guidance.
• Create reports and present results to cross-functional teams.
• Conduct or supervise testing and correlate data to FEA models.
• Write test procedures and develop fixtures for testing.
• Support root-cause analysis and manage testing facilities & vendors.
• Travel occasionally for testing activities.
