Job summary

Gray AES is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer-MEP to join our team, supporting multiple offices including Charlotte, NC. You will lead mechanical design across complex facilities, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and drive optimization from FEED to Commissioning.

The role requires 8–10+ years in mechanical design for industrial or commercial projects, PE licensure, and strong BIM proficiency using Revit, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks. Occasional travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) from an accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineering License is required.
• 8–10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design engineering for industrial or commercial facilities.
• Strong expertise in mechanical systems design including HVAC, piping, utility systems, and equipment layout.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for mechanical design across complex, capital-intensive projects.
• Lead mechanical system architecture including load calculations, energy modeling, and equipment selection.
• Oversee engineering documentation: specs, procurement packages, diagrams, commissioning protocols.
• Collaborate with architectural, electrical, and automation disciplines to ensure integrated solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive design deliverables across FEL/FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement and Construction.
