Job summary

Genesis is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our EPC team in Birmingham, AL, supporting power generation and distribution projects including gas turbines, renewables, BESS, substations, and transmission systems. You will develop conceptual layouts, perform piping design and stress analysis, review drawings, mentor junior engineers, and travel to job sites as needed.

Candidates should have a Mechanical Engineering degree and 7+ years of experience; a PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• PE license highly preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of industrial or EPC mechanical engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of piping design, stress analysis, supports, safety devices, steam traps, and specialty materials.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual layouts, preliminary designs, and cost studies for mechanical systems.
• Design complex process and utility piping systems using advanced engineering methods.
• Produce estimate-level designs, material take-offs, and detailed design sketches.
• Perform piping stress analysis, sizing calculations, and select valves, supports, and specialty materials.
• Review vendor and interdisciplinary drawings; provide mechanical design input.
• Support drafting teams with layout and detailing coordination.
• Assist with scope development, procurement documentation, construction packages, and field support.
• Conduct field verification and provide construction/commissioning support.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Employee may be required to visit job sites, field offices, and customer locations.
