Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. in Rochester, NY is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive the design, development, and integration of mechanical, electro-mechanical, and opto-mechanical systems for EO/IR solutions.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance products from concept through fabrication. The role requires a strong background in mechanical design, CAD, and analysis, with security clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher with 6+ years of relevant experience; or 10+ years without a degree.
• Experience with design, development and evaluation of mechanical/electro-mechanical components and systems.
• Ability to interface with cross-functional teams (optical, electrical, software, systems) and perform CAD design and analyses.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical components and systems.
• Prepare design specifications, analyses and recommendations for formal review.
• Analyze production requirements and recommend design approaches.
• Interface with optical, electrical, software and system engineers, providing CAD design and analyses from inception to release.
• Provide support for product development and proposals with CAD layouts and cost estimates.
• Create documentation and BOMs to support lifecycle of new or improved designs.
• Support existing product designs through production with ECO changes.
• Ability to obtain Secret Security clearance.
