Job summary

Form Energy in Berkeley, CA is hiring a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team. You will design, prototype, and release components focused on manufacturability, weight, performance, and cost, supporting transition from prototype to high-volume production.

You’ll drive design release processes, DFMEA, and risk mitigations while collaborating across test, manufacturing, supply chain, and other teams. Relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of experience.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drafting (Solidworks or CATIA preferred).
• Strong GD&T knowledge and experience with DFMEA and DVPs.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and own the release of components with manufacturability, weight, performance and cost focus.
• Drive design release processes and lead DFMEA, risk identification and mitigations.
• Manage supplier communications and transition designs from prototype to high-volume production.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define interface requirements and integrated solutions.
• Own validation and compliance testing for performance, reliability, and readiness for release.
• Support line bring-up with hands-on fabrication and testing of first-of-a-kind prototypes.
• Develop standards and processes to improve engineering rigor.
