Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for its Melville, NY location to drive concept-to-production design of electro-mechanical products. You will lead CAD work, packaging, and manufacturability while delivering robust design solutions.

You will apply FEA/DFMEA, validation testing, and GD&T within high-volume manufacturing settings. Mentoring peers and guiding cross-functional teams will be key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks for design and analysis.
• Experience with injection molded plastics, sheet metal, and electro-mechanical packaging.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments and DFMEA/FMEA.
• FEA, design validation testing, and GD&T proficiency.
• PLM knowledge and engineering documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, and development of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems from concept through production.
• Create detailed assembly drawings, part drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
• Develop and present multiple design concepts to engineering teams and stakeholders.
• Design for manufacturability, assembly, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Perform FEA and DFMEA/FMEA to improve product performance and reliability.
• Develop and execute testing and validation plans.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams on product releases.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead multiple projects with timely delivery.
