Job summary

Roche Sequencing Solutions seeks a Senior R&D Engineer to drive mechanical design, development, and commercialization of sequencing systems and automation equipment. You will blend engineering design with hands-on prototyping, assembly, and lab testing across fluidic, mechatronic, pneumatic, thermal, optical, and electrical subsystems.

You will advance automated DNA sequencing pipelines from concept to manufacturing, defining requirements, prototyping, testing, and collaborating with engineers,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field (3+ years industry experience)
• Experience designing life science or diagnostic reagent handling systems with automated fluidic components
• Experience bringing an automated fluidic system from feasibility to manufacturing
• Strong fundamentals to design high-performance fluidic systems and manifolds

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design of custom fluidic components and subsystems with thorough documentation
• Prototype and test mechanical and electromechanical designs
• Define and refine requirements and specifications; select off-the-shelf components
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists on integration; guide vendors and team members
