Job summary

Roche Sequencing Solutions in California seeks a Senior R&D Engineer to drive mechanical design, development, and commercialization of sequencing systems and automation equipment. The role blends design work with hands-on prototyping, assembly, and lab testing across fluidic, mechatronic, pneumatic, thermal, optical, and electrical subsystems.

You will advance automated DNA sequencing pipelines from concept to manufacturing, define and refine requirements, select components, and document

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field with 3+ years of industry experience.
• Experience designing life science or diagnostic reagent handling systems and automated fluidic systems.
• Proficient in SolidWorks for detailed design and drawings; hands-on prototyping capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design of custom fluidic components, assemblies, and subsystems with tolerance analysis.
• Prototyping and testing mechanical and electromechanical designs.
• Define and refine requirements and specifications; select off-the-shelf components.
• Subsystem/system level assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
