Job summary

Wiley|Wilson in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with district utilities focus to lead planning, design, and delivery of district heating and cooling projects.

You will provide technical leadership, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams; the role includes business development and involvement in central plant and distribution design.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of focused experience with district thermal utility systems (generation & distribution).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree required.
• Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S. and obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and design for district thermal systems (hot water, chilled water, steam).
• Support business development within district utilities.
• Perform detailed engineering analyses, including life cycle cost evaluations (LCCA).
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate systems into infrastructure projects.
• Mentor and provide technical direction to junior engineers.
• Support field investigations and system evaluations to align designs with site conditions.
• Participate in design reviews to uphold quality and performance.
• Assist with construction phase services.
