Allen & Shariff, a leading international MEP engineering firm, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Designer to join its Chicago team. The role involves independent work on multiple concurrent projects, from design to construction, and responsibility for contract documents and specifications for complex building systems.

The candidate will perform full HVAC design, coordinate with clients, and ensure code-compliant production using AutoCAD & Revit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or Architectural Engineering with a Mechanical focus).
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical systems design.
• AutoCAD & Revit proficiency; PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform full HVAC design for medium to large commercial projects, including equipment selection.
• Analyze system options and evaluate existing systems where appropriate.
• Coordinate all aspects of project document completion with internal teams and clients.
• Produce designs in compliance with codes; use AutoCAD & Revit per architect’s preference.
• Write specifications and project documents.
• Support bid and construction phases: review bids, RFIs, shop drawings, site walks, field reports.
• Be a technical expert on a variety of HVAC systems.

A+S is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer or Designer to join our growing Chicago team. The Senior Engineer/Designer will work independently on multiple concurrent projects, both in design and construction, and be responsible for the preparation of contract documents and specifications for complex building systems. This encompasses advanced calculations, systems analysis, quality control of finished projects, and field/construction coordination activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform full design of HVAC systems, including full equipment selection, for medium to large commercial projects
• Analyze system options and evaluate existing systems where appropriate.
• Coordinate all aspects of project document completion within A+S and externally with clients.
• Complete full design in accordance with code. Production is performed using AutoCAD & Revit depending on preference of architect.
• Write specifications.
• Provide bid and construction phase services including reviewing bids, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, participating in project walk-throughs, and providing field observation reports.
• Must be proficient in a variety of HVAC systems and shall be considered a technical expert and resource to the office.
