Job summary

E‑Space is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the design development and delivery of a deployable payload antenna structure, from concept through production. This hands‑on role requires leadership in mechanism design and substantial CAD work (SolidWorks), plus experience with space-qualified structures and automated manufacturing systems.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 6–8 years of hands-on experience bringing CAD from the desktop to the desk-top.
• Experience with deployable space structures.
• Experience with solar panel structure design, integration & test.
• Experience with space or flight environmental qualification (thermal‑vacuum, vibration, radiation).
• Experience with automated manufacturing systems (robotics, pick and place, roll‑to‑roll, etc.).
• Demonstrable experience developing deployable space structures from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design of a deployable payload antenna structure — from preliminary layout through detailed design, analysis, and release to manufacturing.
• Lead structure and mechanisms design, including deployment kinematics, hold‑down and release mechanism make‑buy decisions and rapid prototyping.
• Perform structural and dynamic analysis to meet mass, stiffness, and packaging requirements.
• Take the structure and mechanisms through qualification for the flight environment (thermal‑vacuum, vibration, and shock).
• Create detailed drawings, GD&T, and interface control documentation for cross‑functional team consumption.
• Support manufacturing, integration, and test, resolving mechanical anomalies throughout the entire product lifecycle.
• Be a CAD modeling expert (SolidWorks) managing CAD assemblies and drawings.
