Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support its Armament Systems site in Plymouth, MN. The role focuses on mechanical design for medium caliber ammunition, providing engineering support across distributed manufacturing and testing locations.

You will investigate design and manufacturing issues, document processes, support readiness reviews, and collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Test teams. Travel up to about 10% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar STEM discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, or a master's degree with 3 years of experience.
• Ability to guide significant tasks and coordinate other technical team members.
• Experience communicating with customers, program management, and engineering management.
• Technical understanding of mechanical/electromechanical systems, manufacturing, metal fabrication, and assembly.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical and production engineering support for development and fabrication of medium caliber ammunition.
• Offer work direction to distributed manufacturing and test locations.
• Solve design and manufacturing issues and document manufacturing processes.
• Coordinate efforts between internal groups and customers.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes and tooling.
