Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support Armament Systems in Plymouth, MN. This role focuses on mechanical design for medium caliber ammunition, working within an integrated product team across multiple sites.

The candidate will conduct failure analyses, develop new manufacturing processes, and coordinate with engineering, supply chain, and test teams to ensure readiness for production. A strong background in mechanical/electromechanical systems is required.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field; 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to guide tasks, mentor teammates, and coordinate multi-discipline efforts.
• Experience communicating with customers, program management, and engineering management.
• Technical understanding of mechanical/electromechanical mechanisms and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Failure Analysis and Corrective Actions to resolve design issues.
• Provide design-to-production support for new/modified medium caliber ammunition.
• Direct work direction to distributed manufacturing and test locations.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes and tooling.
• Prepare Build Readiness and Production Readiness Reviews.
• Create and maintain documentation; manage work instructions and BOMs.
