Job summary

CyrusOne seeks a Mechanical Engineer focused on Datacenter Operations to set standards for cooling system designs, assist in implementing new systems and replacements, and review maintenance practices for mechanical infrastructure that supports data centers.

This role will optimize HVAC, cooling and energy efficiency, lead a team of engineers, collaborate with IT and facilities, and drive reliability and cost-effectiveness across CyrusOne facilities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in data centers or critical facilities.
• Experience in managing multidisciplinary projects including budget and stakeholder communication.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
• Leadership to mentor junior engineers and drive cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of energy-efficient and sustainable technologies for large-scale data centers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical system design for data center operations, focusing on HVAC and thermal management.
• Oversee optimization of mechanical infrastructure for reliability and efficiency.
• Plan and implement scalable systems to support growth in data processing.
• Provide technical leadership in day-to-day operations and proactive issue resolution.
• Develop and promote energy efficiency initiatives to reduce consumption and carbon footprint.
• Manage large-scale projects from design through installation and commissioning, ensuring on-time delivery and budget control.
• Coordinate with vendors to source equipment within specifications and budget constraints.
• Collaborate with electrical, civil, IT and facilities teams and mentor engineers.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
