Job summary

TransGrid Energy is seeking a Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineer to own the cooling and mechanical design for data center projects, ensuring high-density IT loads remain thermally safe, reliable, and energy efficient across air and liquid-cooling technologies.

The role spans concept through commissioning, partnering with Electrical, Controls, and Construction teams to deliver robust, cost-effective infrastructure with focus on PUE/WUE performance and maintainability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of designing mechanical and cooling systems for data centers or similar facilities.
• Experience with data center cooling systems including chilled-water plants, air cooling, and controls.
• Understanding of high-density IT cooling requirements and relationship between rack density and cooling capacity.
• Experience with plant sizing, redundancy, PUE, WUE, piping and pumping design, and mechanical controls sequences.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE TC 9.9 and data center thermal-management practices.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical and cooling design for data center projects from concept to turnover.
• Design and evaluate chilled-water, air-cooled, and liquid-cooling systems and related infrastructure.
• Lead plant sizing, redundancy strategies, and system architecture for high-density IT loads.
• Develop and review piping, pumping, heat rejection, and mechanical distribution systems.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Controls, Construction, and other teams to resolve design conflicts and ensure integration.
• Support construction, commissioning, and startup activities and verify thermal performance.
