SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Our Roanoke office is currently seeking a successful candidate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, emphasizing HVAC systems and project designs for buildings. P.E. registration, with the ability to be registered in multiple states, is required. The candidate should have a solid background in HVAC systems design coursework, with at least 12+ years of experience in commercial and residential building design. Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, NFPA, and IBC codes, along with experience in analysis and layout of HVAC systems, hydronic piping, air distribution, and HVAC products and materials, is essential.

The position involves performing all aspects of mechanical engineering related to assigned projects, including:

1. Meeting with architects and team members to determine appropriate HVAC systems, locations, and preliminary cost estimates.
2. Conducting field work to assess existing HVAC components for reuse and retrofit.
3. Coordinating with architects, clients, and other engineering disciplines during design and production.
4. Preparing contract documents using Revit for schematic design packages.
5. Developing technical construction specifications to support project design and drawings.
6. Preparing schematic, design development, and construction documents, including coordination with the engineering team.
7. Experience as a project lead is preferred but not required.
8. Assisting in HVAC construction administration, including shop drawing review, site visits, and responding to field questions.
9. Demonstrating strong written and communication skills, with the ability to multitask across multiple project phases.
10. Maintaining excellent client interface and organizational skills.
11. Showing enthusiasm for ongoing education and skill development.
