Mechanical Engineer – Forensic Investigations
Our client, a leading engineering and technical consulting firm, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a growing team of forensic experts. This role involves complex investigations, hands‑on site assessments, and expert‑level analysis for insurance, legal, industrial, and commercial clients.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct mechanical failure analysis across a wide range of systems and equipment.
- Investigate incidents to determine origin, cause, and failure mechanisms.
- Perform field inspections, equipment evaluations, data retrieval, 3D documentation, mechanical calculations, and CAD/manual sketches.
- Review codes, standards, technical documents, logs, and drawings to assess compliance and performance.
- Support fire and explosion investigations involving mechanical systems.
- Prepare clear, professional written reports and present findings to clients.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
What We’re Looking For
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required or on track to obtain.
- 2–10+ years of experience with mechanical systems (products, machinery, HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, equipment design, or related).
- Experience with project management and/or field investigations strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills — written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering/design software.
