Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead and support the development, planning, and execution of radiological mechanical systems across their life cycle, from research to field deployment.

You will design, verify, and develop mechanical and electromechanical equipment and fluid systems, coordinating with cross-functional teams to improve safety, performance, and cost while meeting DOE and NNL requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• Master's degree in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Doctorate degree in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
• Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

• Analyze engineering problems using data-driven methods.

Job Description

Our Production Systems Engineering unit is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support and lead the development, planning, and execution of radiological mechanical systems throughout their full life cycle. In this role, you'll research, design, verify, and develop mechanical and electromechanical equipment and fluid systems, recommending improvements that enhance safety, performance, efficiency, and cost.

You may work in specialized areas such as thermal hydraulics, propulsion plant systems, component design, modeling and simulation, shock and vibration, acoustics, or structural analysis. Responsibilities include coordinating fabrication, installation, testing, operation, and maintenance activities, analyzing engineering problems using data?driven methods, applying engineering standards, and preparing or reviewing technical documentation for system installation and operations.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Pay Range

$95,700.00 - $149,600.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
