Senior Mechanical Engineer

Full-Time, Exempt

Cranberry Township, PA

On-site, Monday–Friday, 8 hours/day

Travel Requirement: Up to 10%

A well-established engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its corporate engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full product lifecycle—from initial concept and design through manufacturing, packaging, and final delivery. The position supports a variety of product lines, including the development of new technologies.

This is a hands-on engineering role within a collaborative team that values innovation, precision, and continuous improvement in product design and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop innovative mechanical designs to meet performance and cost objectives
• Conduct reverse engineering and competitive product analysis to support product requirements
• Assist production teams by translating design specifications and resolving technical issues
• Collaborate with quality teams to investigate non-conformances and improve inspection processes
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for both internal and external issues
• Design fixtures for assembly and machining processes
• Build and implement test equipment into production workflows
• Partner with sales and product teams to evaluate and define custom product solutions
• Create detailed part and assembly drawings, along with supporting documentation
• Effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and evolving work environment

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience

Qualifications and Experience (Required):

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product design and development
• Expertise in designing for manufacturability using materials such as tool steels, aluminum, polymers, composites, and alloy steels
• Experience with sheet metal, castings, plastic molding, and extrusion design processes
• Familiarity with heat treatment specifications
• Proficiency in gear design, including planetary gear systems
• Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Practical manufacturing experience, including machining, assembly, and fixture design
• Proficient in ASME Y14.5-2009 drawing standards
• Knowledge of design of experiments (DOE) and root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies
• CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
• Experience working in ISO-compliant design control environments
• Competency in quality inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gages
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced gear design knowledge
• Background in rotary or turbine tool development
• Experience with pneumatic system design
• SolidWorks with Product Data Management (PDM)
