This on-site role covers full lifecycle design, from concept through prototyping, testing, validation, and manufacturing. You will lead NPD activities, guide design reviews, ensure DFM/DFA, and collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to deliver robust, cost-efficient solutions.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead New Product Development (NPD) from market specs to manufacturable designs.
• Oversee concept selection, target setting, feasibility reviews, and release milestones.
• Design injection-molded parts, castings, and machined components using 3D CAD.
• Ensure DFM/DFA and collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Drive projects from concept through prototyping, validation, and testing.
• Troubleshoot prototype failures with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Continuously optimize designs for quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Complex, electro-mechanical product development team is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with full lifecycle product design including concept, prototyping, test, validation, and manufacturing. We are seeking a hands on engineer who loves solving problems and translating customer needs/market requirements into robust, reliable manufacturable product solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead New Product Development (NPD) activities, from understanding market specifications and project scope to delivering manufacturable product designs.
• Oversee key engineering events including concept selection, target setting, technical feasibility reviews, and drawing release milestones.
• Design injection-molded, castings, and machined components using 3D CAD tools.
• Communicate with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure DFM/DFA and robust product performance.
• Drive projects from concept through prototyping, validation, and hands on test.
• Troubleshoot prototype failures through structured root cause analysis and implement corrective design actions.
• Continuously optimize processes and designs to improve product quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree with 5-10+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience.

Required Skills

• Strong background in product development (complex, electro-mechanical product design).
• Strong CAD modeling (preferably Creo).
• Hands-on experience with injection molding, castings, and machined components.
• Experience with DFM/DFA, supplier coordination, and manufacturability optimization.
• Excellent project management, communication, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• The team is based about 30 minutes north of Chicago, IL. This is mostly an on-site role.
