Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and execution of mechanical systems for power generation, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), data centers, and industrial infrastructure projects. This role serves as a senior technical leader responsible for overseeing complex engineering efforts, mentoring engineering staff, supporting EPC project execution, and ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable, and constructible mechanical designs.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in power generation and industrial mechanical systems, strong project leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to execute multidisciplinary projects from concept through commissioning.
Responsibilities
Mechanical Engineering Leadership
- Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for power generation, renewable energy, BESS, data center, and industrial infrastructure projects.
- Oversee the preparation and review of:
- General arrangement drawings
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Mechanical specifications
- Material take-offs (MTOs)
- Engineering calculations
- Technical evaluations
- Lead the design and evaluation of:
- Combined cycle plant systems
- Cooling water systems
- Compressed air systems
- Water treatment systems
- HVAC systems
- Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment
- Mechanical systems supporting BESS facilities
- Develop innovative engineering solutions that improve safety, reliability, maintainability, and operational performance.
Project Execution
- Lead mechanical engineering activities throughout conceptual design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, startup, and commissioning phases.
- Manage mechanical engineering scope, deliverables, schedules, and technical execution.
- Develop equipment specifications and procurement documentation.
- Review and approve vendor drawings, technical submittals, and equipment selections.
- Support project estimating, planning, budgeting, and risk management activities.
- Ensure mechanical designs align with project objectives, client requirements, and EPC execution strategies.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts with civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation & controls, process, and construction teams.
- Lead interdisciplinary design reviews and constructability evaluations.
- Resolve complex design challenges and interface issues across engineering disciplines.
- Support project managers and engineering leads with technical decision-making and project execution planning.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with project specifications, client requirements, company standards, and applicable industry codes and standards.
- Perform technical reviews and approve engineering deliverables.
- Support development and implementation of engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Promote quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
- Provide senior-level engineering support during construction, startup, and commissioning activities.
- Participate in site visits, equipment inspections, field troubleshooting, and constructability reviews.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and resolve field engineering issues.
- Support system testing, equipment startup, commissioning, and performance verification activities.
- Review commissioning documentation and turnover packages.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to mechanical engineers and designers.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of engineering personnel.
- Share technical expertise, lessons learned, and industry best practices.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum 10–15 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience.
- Extensive experience supporting power generation, industrial, utility, energy, manufacturing, or EPC projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading mechanical engineering efforts on large multidisciplinary projects.
