Job summary

SLB in Katy, Texas seeks an experienced Mechanical CAD Designer to create and maintain mechanical layouts, production drawings, and documentation per ANSI and SLB standards. Works with engineering and manufacturing on electro-mechanical systems and power distribution projects.

Applicants should have a certificate or associate degree in CAD design and at least 10 years of electro-mechanical design experience, including switchgear, MCCs, and control panels.

Qualifications

• Certificate or Associate Degree in CAD Design or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of electro-mechanical design experience, preferably involving power distribution equipment, generator controls, VFDs, and MCCs.
• Experience designing power systems and control panel layouts with knowledge of clearance, operation, and maintenance requirements.
• Hands-on knowledge of electrical systems, including switchgear, control panels, and associated control systems.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain mechanical design layouts, production drawings, and related engineering documentation using approved CAD tools.
• Develop detailed designs for weldments, skid assemblies, sheet metal components, cable routing, and power distribution systems.
• Produce drawings from engineering layouts, sketches, specifications, and verbal instructions.
• Apply ANSI and SLB drafting standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and documentation quality.
• Incorporate manufacturing requirements, tolerances, installation considerations, and serviceability into design solutions.
• Support control panel, switchgear, generator control, VFD, and MCC-related projects.
• Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve design issues and support project execution.
• Maintain status updates and deliver assigned projects within established timelines.
