Job summary

Raymond is seeking a Mechanical Designer to support building projects with HVAC and plumbing system designs. You will draft and coordinate using AutoCAD and Revit, prepare technical specifications, and conduct site visits.

The role requires 7–10+ years of experience, ABET/EAC-accredited degree (or equivalent), and familiarity with UFC/DOD/VA standards. Travel to sites may be needed; hybrid/remote options available.

Qualifications

• ABET/EAC-accredited engineering degree (or equivalent)
• 7–10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering and design experience
• Strong HVAC and plumbing system design experience for buildings
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit
• Experience with Trane Trace 3D and Trane 700 preferred
• Familiarity with UFC, DOD, and VA standards a plus
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical and plumbing designs for building projects, including HVAC systems and building automation
• Design, draft, and coordinate using AutoCAD and Revit
• Prepare and edit technical specifications (MasterSpec or SpecsIntact)
• Conduct site visits, field assessments, and construction observations
• Develop technical documents, reports, and client deliverables
• Communicate with architects, engineers, regulators, and project stakeholders
• Assist with project leadership from concept through completion
• Support project fee development and budget awareness
• Mentor and train junior technical staff
• Maintain organized documentation of calculations, drawings, and communications
