Job summary

AV is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter III to join our engineering team in a hands-on role. You will design components, parts and assemblies, and produce engineering drawings, change orders, and bills of materials to support product development.

You will collaborate with Engineers and Manufacturing to update designs, document changes, and shepherd documents through configuration management systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• 8–10 years in mechanical design and drafting.
• CSWP or higher certification required.
• Understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Experience with SOLIDWORKS CAD and SOLIDWORKS PDM.
• Experience with composite aerospace structures and related processes.
• Design of electro-mechanical systems and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Designs mechanical parts, components and assemblies including composites, metals, and non-metallics.
• Creates and reviews drawings and documents to standards.
• Analyzes tolerances and fabrication methods for manufacturability.
• Applies Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance.
• Specifies materials, finishes, and workmanship calls.
• Handles moderately difficult tasks with judgment and teamwork.
• Other duties as assigned.
