Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to join the Design Services Group in the Neutron Technologies Division. You will develop mechanical designs for unique scientific instruments and prototypes, using Creo CAD to create detailed 3D models and drawings aligned with ASME Y14.5 standards.

Collaborate with researchers and engineers to ensure functionality, safety, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical design/engineering experience.
• AS degree or higher with related experience.
• Expert in Creo CAD; SolidWorks acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with researchers and engineers on mechanical designs for instruments and setups.
• Create robust 3D models and drawings per ASME Y14.5-2018 standards.
• Perform tolerance analysis and design optimization for safety and efficiency.
• Prepare complete working plans and detail drawings from sketches and data.
