Job summary

KFI Engineers seeks a Senior Mechanical Designer in its Utilities & Central Energy group in Saint Paul, MN. The role focuses on producing AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and Revit drawings, leading project design tasks, mentoring junior designers, and coordinating with multiple disciplines from concept through commissioning.

Qualified candidates will have 10+ years of design experience, strong 3D and piping system knowledge, and the ability to manage complex projects with a team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of design experience in mechanical or facility infrastructure.
• Expertise in 3D design, mechanical general arrangements, piping systems and P&IDs.
• Ability to lead design tasks, mentor junior designers and manage projects.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically.

Responsibilities

• Create comprehensive industrial drawings: GA, PIDs, 3D models, piping and isometrics.
• Design complete systems and manage drawing documents for projects.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, provide technical support and client liaison.
• Lead design meetings and reviews; serve as KFI representative at meetings.
• Plan field work and site visits; estimate hours and contribute to budgets.
• Lead projects end-to-end and mentor junior designers.
